Catwoman’s New Wii U Armor Unveiled; Covers Up

As incredible as Batman: Arkham City was, there were a few elements related to its secondary protagonist, Catwoman, that drew scrutiny from players and press alike, while demanding self-examination by these individuals.

The one: the frequency with which characters refer to her, and the other females in the game, with less-than-savory terms. That almost every line of dialogue is peppered with the word “bitch” when speaking of Catwoman or Harley Quinn borders on absurd, while still remaining offensive. The second factor? Catwoman’s costume, which unveils more than its fair share of her assets.

No word yet on whether the dialogue in the game is getting an overhaul for the Wii U’s Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition, but, just like Batman himself, Selina Kyle is receiving new duds. And hers, in a move that may be tied to Nintendo’s family-friendly image, or may simply be the result of some semblance of shame on the part of the developers, includes some extra covering for her ample cleavage. She’ll also have the sort of “kinetic” super-damage power that Batman is gaining, so this upgrade is intended to be functional as well as aesthetic, but one can’t help but wonder at the impetus behind such a change.
