RUMOR: Majora’s Mask Coming To 3DS?

The release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D was a much-needed injection of life into an ailing 3DS after the system’s less-than-stellar launch last year. Almost immediately, though, fans of the series expressed a fervent desire for a similar treatment of Ocarina of Time’s oddball sequel, Majora’s Mask.

Famous for both being a direct sequel to the previous Zelda game as well as breaking with many of the series’ conventions, Majora’s Mask was current series director Eiji Aonuma’s first outing at the helm of a Zelda project. It’s a darker, lonelier look at adventure, where mature themes and disturbing imagery abound. It has also inspired “Operation Moonfall,” itself inspired by Operation Rainfall, in hopes of getting the game ported to the 3DS with similar enhancements to those made to Ocarina of Time.

If a purported listing on GAME’s website is to be believed, the fans may well have succeeded. Though there’s no image attached to the game, and the listing was supposedly only live for half an hour, the prospect is a tantalizing one.

Still, the possibility remains that this was a glitch, or that the screenshot captured of the page is, in fact, a Photoshop production. Hopefully word will come out soon one way or another, but with it having been over a year since the re-release of Ocarina of Time, a Majora’s Mask related announcement could very well be right around the corner.
