At PAX 2012, a brand new trailer was unveiled for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. The only thing Kojima himself would tell us is “it’s a prequel.”
Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will have a vehicular combat element. Snake will be able to hijack helicopters, APCs, Tanks, and more. It actually gives the game a bit of a Grand Theft Auto feel. Each of these new vehicles has their own control scheme and own strengths and weaknesses though further details on the new vehicular gameplay system is not yet available.
Apparently, the game is also open-ended to a degree. Snake can send up a signal flare in order to get picked up by a helicopter. This helicopter will then take him to other missions or areas of interest. However, details on his overall mission and the meta-plot are still being kept under wraps.
