New MGS: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid Movie Details

During the ongoing Eurogamer Expo, Hideo Kojima divulged new details for Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, as well as the Metal Gear Solid movie.

Firstly, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will feature base building, which has been seen in PSP title Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker.

Within the game’s open world, protagonist Snake will have his own home base that can be protected and managed. In addition, Hideo Kojima also said that developer Kojima Productions is considering whether to include an option that sees players managing bases from smartphones.

Players will be able to walk around the aforementioned base in real time, while the weapon R&D from Peace Walker makes a return.

As for the Metal Gear Solid movie, which is being produced by Avi Arad and distributed by Columbia Pictures, it will star Solid Snake instead of Big Boss.

Kojima confirmed that he won’t be directing the film or writing it, but will be playing his part via a supervisory position. As for the actor to play the coveted role of Solid Snake, Arad and Kojima once considered Hugh Jackman for the role. However, they have decided to cast an unknown actor to play Snake.

The reason for doing so is in order to find an actor that can make a name for themselves in the role as opposed to an already-established actor. Kojima stressed, however, that Arad is good at finding new stars.
