Need For Speed Movie Picks Up Aaron Paul

Need For Speed Movie Picks Up Aaron Paul

Need for Speed is one of the weirdest video game movie projects I have ever seen. Need for Speed isn’t exactly a franchise that is praised for its narrative. In fact, it’s far more praised for its car crashes and explosions.

Yet DreamWorks is still making an action film adaptation of the popular racing game, and Aaron Paul is slated to play the lead. You may remember Paul through his Emmy-award-winning role as Jesse Pinkman in Breaking Bad . The details behind Paul’s role are still being kept under-wraps, but considering he has to play someone who is irresponsible enough to ramp off of cop cars for the fun of it, he’s probably a good choice.

Still, video game movies aren’t exactly known for their award-winning plots. Apparently, Need for Speed will be “rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the 70s while being extremely faithful to the spirit of the video game franchise” according to CNBC. What that means, we aren’t particularly sure. However, Need for Speed is one of those games with enough wiggle room that a creative writer or director might be able to do good things with it. We will have to wait and see.
