Capcom Promises New Mega Man Games

Capcom Promises New Mega Man Games

After Mega Man Universe and Mega Man Legends 3 were canceled and Keiji Inafune left Capcom, we all became worried that Mega Man was finally dead. Then, to make matters worse, Capcom said that we shouldn’t expect a new Mega Man game for the franchise’s 25 th anniversary. It started to look like we wouldn’t be seeing the Blue Bomber again. However, we appear to wrong; Capcom has recently reassured us that Mega Man is anything but dead.

Capcom’s US Senior Vice President, Christian Svensson, was recently interviewed for the November issue of Nintendo Power magazine. This is what he had to say about Mega Man’s future:

I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you’re going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they’re going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I’m going to have to stay mum about any details.

Perhaps we will see a new 8-bit Mega Man? Or perhaps a new 16 bit Mega Man X? Maybe Mega Man Legends actually will be making a comeback? Anything is possible, but we don’t have any of the details just yet. The one thing we do know is that Capcom hasn’t given up on the IP. Maybe we will see more Mega Man on this upcoming generation of consoles.
