When the Oddworld franchise was initially conceived, it was intended to be a five part series. Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee was the first, followed by Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee. However, Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus was just a spin-off, and the same is true of Stranger’s Wrath.
The next game due out from Oddworld Inhabitants, the publisher behind the series, is an HD remake of Abe’s Oddysee called New ‘n’ Tasty. Following that, though, Oddworld wants to know what should come next and has instituted a fan poll on their website. The options are surprisingly varied, including sequels to both Stranger’s Wrath and Munch’s Oddysee, an HD remake of Abe’s Exoddus, a mobile game, and even the next entry in the pentalogy: Squeek’s Oddysee.
Abe’s Exoddus HD is presently leading the pack, but right on its heels is “something completely new on Oddworld,” which clearly has gamers’ interest piqued. Personally, I’m gunning for Squeek. It’s been more than a full console generation since we’ve had a true pentalogy release; it’s time to make it happen.
