Capcom Ceases Development On Mega Man Online

Capcom Ceases Development On Mega Man Online

Mega Man Online, the ambitious MMO that would have let you play as characters from every time period in the Mega Man franchise, is no more. The game was announced in 2010 as a joint venture between Capcom and Neowiz Games. Unfortunately, we haven’t heard much since the announcement, and now reports are coming in that suggests the project has been shut down for good.

“Both companies have continually discussed to find agreeable points on quality, development time, communication and etc,” Neowiz said. “Ultimately, both companies have agreed to stop the development of Rock Man Online early last November.”

First Mega Man Legends 3, then Mega Man Universe, and now this? It appears as if Capcom doesn’t have a lot of faith in the blue bomber. While Capcom’s official stance is that Mega Man is still one of their most important brands, nothing interesting has come out of the franchise since Street Fighter X Mega Man, and even that was more of tie-in for Street Fighter’s anniversary event.
