Trion Extends Apology, Gifts, To Defiance Early Adopters

Defiance, the multimedia mash-up of an MMO and a science fiction television series, had a somewhat shaky launch. It wasn’t on the scale of the SimCity debacle, but there were issues with server disconnects, log in woes, overlong patch times, mismatched product keys, and missing pre-order items.

Trion, though, has experience with launching MMOs. It built Rift, after all, and it appears that they’ve learned a lot from that (and the gaming community’s response to unaddressed launch problems) and have already offered an apology. Rather than mere words, though, they’ve volunteered a gift.

Those who already possess a Defiance account will receive the in-game title “Daredevil,” along with week-long boosts to Weapons Skill, Scrip, Loot, and XP. They caution that these gifts may take a little time to apply, due to account caching, but the frank and transparent communication is definitely endearing. It also helps that most of their gifts should help make up for play-time lost to any issues that kept players out of the game.
