SimCity Suffers Version 2.0

SimCity Suffers Version 2.0

We’re out of the initial launch fiasco that has plagued SimCity. Despite problems stemming from deficient servers, shoddy AI programming, and promises not kept, the game continues to run and people continue to play it. And now we’re at the stage when EA and Maxis can start rolling out patches to address some of those concerns and bring the game closer to what they originally advertised.

Unless they break it more.

Following the grand SimCity 2.0 patch, just rolled out on Monday, the game has been hit with bugs including sudden sewage overloads, lock-ups on loading screens when attempting to resume a pre-patch city, and eternal construction sites in pre-patch cities that never become actual buildings. On the upshot, the “clumping” of traffic has been addressed. On the flip-side, there are new traffic related issues causing mayors to scratch their heads.

These are just a few of the bugs, focusing on the issues that actually affect function and gameplay. There are more, as well, and they’re almost innumerable. No one is doubting the developers’ intentions in rolling out this patch, but it appears it could have used a bit more testing.
