Techland, Developer of Dead Island, Has A New Game Due This Year

Techland announced today that Hellraid, a new co-op slasher, will be released later this year for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. I put new in quotation marks because the game originally started as a weapons mod for Dead. The mod was later picked up by Dead Island developer Techland and announced as Project Hell.

Hellraid won’t stray too far from the Dead Island formula, though. The new game utilizes a first-person camera and the gameplay emphasizes killing lots of things with your partners. The game won’t necessarily focus on a single-player narrative, however. Instead, it will opt for a Left 4 Dead-style experience. A Game Master will dictate both the enemies that spawn and the loot that will be rewarded as you take place in random online challenges.

The game has been announced for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, but the press release does not mention any next generation consoles.
