Super Mario Bros. Crossover 3.0 On The Way

Super Mario Bros. Crossover 3.0 On The Way

Super Mario Bros. Crossover is a game that can never be released commercially. A love-letter to fans of classic NES games, the original version allowed players to navigate the levels of the original Super Mario Bros. as either Mario or any of a slew of Nintendo heroes, from Zelda’s Link to Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa.

It’s been through a few updates since then and the latest, version 3.0, looks to shake up the game at its very core while expanding it into the world of 16-bits. This time the levels are based on those of Super Mario Bros. Special, a Hudson Soft game released on the Sharp X1 computer, but the visuals will be drawn from everything from the Atari era up through the Super Mario All-Stars aesthetic, including assets ripped from Super Mario Bros. 2 US. With multiple difficulty settings and a bevy of additional characters filling the same roles as in past versions, Super Mario Bros. Crossover 3.0 is absolutely staggering in the amount of content it displays.

It will be out in either May or June.
