New Wolfenstein Game Announced For Holiday 2013

New Wolfenstein Game Announced For Holiday 2013

What do the holidays mean to you? For me, they’re mostly about shooting Nazi’s with a shotgun, which is why I’m excited that a brand new Wolfenstein game will be released during the holiday period this year.

This news comes from Bethesda Softworks, who will be producing Wolfenstein: The New Order. The game will pick up where Wolfenstein 3D, the granddaddy of all First person shooters, left off. It takes place in 1980 in an alternate timeline where the Nazis won World War II. It’s up to B. J. Blazkowicz to stop the Nazi regime and restore order to the world. Oh, and time travel might be involved.

Who doesn’t love time-traveling Nazis?

The developer behind the new Wolfenstein project is MachineGames, a Swedish studio formed by the original founders of Starbreeze. Many of you may remember Starbreeze as the developer behind titles like The Darkness and Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay.

Back in 2009, Activision attempted to reboot the Wolfenstein series with a modern day shooter. Unfortunately, the game was mostly considered a flop and will be ignored in the continuity of this new reboot. Perhaps Bethesda and MachineGames have found a more interesting angle this time around.
