Microsoft Claims To Have $1 Billion Invested In Xbox One Exclusives

A new report in Official Xbox Magazine covering Microsoft’s first-party strategy, reveals that the company has $1 billion ready to invest in the Xbox One’s exclusive. Don Mattrick, head of interactive entertainment at Microsoft, was quoted, saying, “I think, candidly, people are way, way under-indexing how hard we’re punching.”

Punching, indeed.

Microsoft made an announcement at the Xbox One’s reveal confirming 15 exclusive games to be coming to the system within a year of its release, and the investment figure certainly supports the alleged lineup. However, the true value of the games in question will likely be determined by the already peeved core-gamer market, as many of the titles will likely be Kinect gimmicks or simple XBLA releases. Frankly, $10 billion won’t buy back fan loyalty unless it leads to quality content.
