Select EA Online Passes Are Now Free

EA recently announced that they’re planning to ditch their online passes, a client that requires gamers who buy a used copy an EA title to pay for various forms of online content. Little did we know, however, that we’d immediately see EA follow through on this decision.

NeoGAF has noticed that the online passes for nine EA games are currently free. Here’s the list of games:

  • Alice: Madness Returns – American McGee’s Alice
  • Bad Company 2
  • Bulletstorm
  • Dragon Age: Origins – The Stone Prisoner
  • Dragon Age II: The Black Emporium
  • Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
  • Mass Effect 2: Cerberus Network
  • Medal of Honor
  • SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED
  • Skate 2: Skate Share Pack

A quick glance onto their Xbox Live posting confirms that these online passes don’t cost us a dime.

Game Informer asked why the online passes were being discounted and got the following reply:

“As we discontinue Online Pass for our new EA titles, we are also in the process of eliminating it from all our existing EA titles as well.  We heard the feedback from players and decided to do away with Online Pass altogether.”

Give it a few weeks and EA online passes should be a thing of the past.
