Nintendo has decided to forgo this year’s E3 press conference, instead deciding to handle its announcements via a Nintendo Direct virtual event. The next Nintendo Direct will be held on June 11 th , right before the E3 floor opens up and it appears as if Bayonetta 2, the Wii U exclusive sequel to Platinum Games’ incredible action title, may be featured there.
The news comes from Hideki Kamiya, creator of Bayonetta. Kamiya tweeted that the game would be part of the Nintendo Direct press conference next week. While we would normally call this a confirmation, a bit of doubt surrounds the tweet, courtesy of Kamiya himself. The Bayonetta creator has been responding to the community reaction by teasing fans and saying that his report may not be as trustworthy as we all thought. Yes, the creator of Bayonetta posted a confirmation about Bayonetta’s role in the next Nintendo Direct, and then helped to invalidate his own post.
Twitter is weird.
Much of the Bayonetta team will be returning for Bayonetta 2. Producer Atsushi Inaba and director Yosuke Hashimoto will both return for development on the sequel. We will bring you more information on Bayonetta 2 when we, hopefully, get to see it at E3 next week.
