When Plants VS Zombies 2 was originally announced, it was given the subtitle “It’s About Time.” At first we all thought that this was self-deprecating jab at the game’s lengthy development time. However, it turns out that PopCap had a slightly different context; Plants VS Zombies 2 will actually be center around time travel.
Well played, PopCap. Well played.
This information comes from a new teaser trailer that shows Crazy Dave getting into a flying truck that has time travel settings like Ancient Egypt and the Wild West. His pimped-out, time ride looks like it comes straight out of Back to the Future—a reference that PopCap is obviously making on purpose.
The trailer also showed off several new plants that we will be able to play with. One plan fired boomerang-like projectiles that curved back to it. Another appeared to be five peashooters in one pea pod. Yet another appeared to be a cabbage with fists that we can only assume will punch zombies that come into melee range.
Plants VS Zombies 2 will be a free-to-play game with new contend uploaded on a regular basis. This includes new levels, new plants, new zombies, new power-ups, and more. It is unclear what role microtransactions will play in this new title. It is currently scheduled to come out sometime this July. We will bring you more information about Plants VS Zombies 2 after we get a chance to play it at this year’s E3.
