Assassin’s Creed 3 Director Confirms New IP For PS4

Not long ago, a little indie studio by the name of Spearhead Games set up shop in Montreal. But this isn’t your average bunch of quirky developers, mind you. Spearhead Games was founded by the design director of Assassin’s Creed 3, Simon Darveau, and several Dead Space 3 developers, so Spearhead has triple-A status under its belt. However, seemingly in anticipation to the PlayStation 4’s demystified indie scene, the studio has confirmed its surprising next-gen project: Tiny Brains .

Far from a tale of horror or freedom, Tiny Brains is a co-op based puzzle game revolving around four super-powered animals: Force, Vortex, Teleport, and Create. Darveau gave a brief explanation of the game’s design process in a recent PlayStation Blog post , saying, “From the beginning, we set out to make a game that turns strangers into friends, and our PAX experiment confirmed our hypothesis.” Darveau continued, explaining that “In Tiny Brains, players can’t get by without talking to each other. They really need to collaborate as every character’s power is required to solve puzzles.”

Tiny Brains may look like an unlikely contender for the next-generation, but the game is actually in an ideal position to capitalize on the improved social and streaming functions of the PS4. Besides, puzzle games are far too scarce as is, so Spearhead Games’ next project really couldn’t have come at a better time.
