Ubisoft Admits Wii U Sales Led To Rayman Legends Delay

Ubisoft Admits Wii U Sales Led To Rayman Legends Delay

When Rayman Legends was delayed, many Wii U owners were quite upset. They also speculated that the poor Wii U sales led to both the game’s delay and porting over to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Today, they got confirmation of that fact.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said what everyone was thinking:

“What happened was that we saw the Wii U was not going to sell enough of those games,” he told VentureBeat. “The game is going to be fantastic, and we didn’t want those creators to wind up in a position where even after making a fantastic game, they didn’t sell well enough.  We decided thar we had to come out on enough machines that players can try it out on any one that they have, and give more time to both improve the game on the Wii U and create versions for the other consoles.”

The problem with this theory, as true as it may be, is that Rayman Legends was shaping up to be the type of game that would sell Wii U systems. Granted, we don’t know exactly how it would have turned out, but Ubisoft made a move they felt was best for the company.
