DOA5 Ultimate Has Four-Console Tag Battles

DOA5 Ultimate Has Four-Console Tag Battles

Since its second game, the Dead or Alive series has had a notably smooth and enjoyable tag team battle system. While enjoyable with two players, each controlling a team, the real fun kicks in when each fighter belongs to a different player, leading to a two-on-two match between four different gamers. Often, this is only possible either on a single console or with two people on each system, connected over the internet.

Much like Street Fighter X Tekken, Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate is looking to change that with the capacity for up to four different accounts on as many different systems to play together in a single tag battle, each player controlling a single fighter. The news comes to us courtesy of a public hands-on demo and presentation in the Ikebukuro ward of Tokyo, held yesterday.

The major concern limiting such a prospect in the past has been lag, which is exacerbated with every additional connection and a death sentence in fighting games. Hopefully Tecmo Koei has some awesome netcode in place.
