Xbox One Won’t Come With a Headset

Xbox One Won’t Come With a Headset

One of the coolest things about the original Xbox 360 was that it came with a headset, allowing you to instantly hop online and start chatting with your friends or, more likely, spouting racial epithets at your opponents in Call of Duty. Unfortunately, it looks like Xbox One won’t have the same benefit, as none of the currently announced models will come with a headset. Instead, gamers will have to make do with the Kinect 2 and its built-in cameras and microphones. Unfortunately, that could cause quite a bit of feedback when used with the right sort of speaker setup.

Microsoft released this statement explaining the matter.

Xbox One does not include a pack-in headset accessory. Each Xbox One includes the new Kinect sensor, with a highly sensitive multi-array microphones designed to enable voice inputs and chat as a system-level capability, both in-game and with Skype and other experiences. For gamers who prefer a headset, we have a variety of offerings that you can find on the Xbox Wire.

Unfortunately, the Xbox One is not compatible with any Xbox 360 headsets, so you’ll have to go out and buy a new one. Microsoft has not announced the price or release date for these new Xbox One headsets.
