Texas Teenager Threatens School Shooting Over League of Legends

Texas Teenager Threatens School Shooting Over League of Legends

18 year old Justin Carter took his online arguments a bit too far. During a Facebook discussion with a fellow League of Legends player, Carter said “Oh yeah, I’m real messed up in the head, I’m going to go shoot up a school full of kids and eat their still, beating hearts.” According to Carter’s father, the next words were “LOL” and “JK” and other obvious signs that he was kidding.

Nonetheless, a concerned citizen from Canada, apparently, saw the posting and did a Google search for his address. When she saw that Carter did, in fact, live near a school, she called the police. Carter was arrested and charged with making a terrorist threat. He is currently serving out an eight year prison sentence.

What can this story teach us? For one, keep your Facebook pages private. Two, never threaten to shoot up a school because of a videogame. Three, everything you say on the internet is recorded and can be used against you, even this article that you are reading right now. So please be sure to tell us what you think of Carter’s situation in the comments, but be careful what you say.
