Lord of the Rings MOBA Is Officially PC-Bound

Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment just announced that its console MOBA, Guardians of Middle-earth , will soon be released for PC through the Steam network, bringing all its Lord of the Rings locales and characters with it.

The game has seen multiple DLC expansions since its PSN and Xbox Live release in December 2012, all of which will be available for the PC package. The various heroes and maps therein will be up for grabs in the form of varying editions of the game, from the standard six-hero pack for $19.99 all the way up to the Mithril Edition which includes all 36 unlockable guardians, variant skins, and a Steam buddy key, which will run you $79.99.

In addition, console players who already own the game will be able to pick up the PC counterpart free of charge after confirming their PSN or XBL purchase.

The PC version’s August 29 th release date begs the question of whether or not the game’s port was influenced by the runaway success of Valve’s newest entry into the MOBA genre, DOTA 2 , or if Warner simply finally decided to hit the genre’s core platform.
