The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Lets You Be a True “Hero”

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD Lets You Be a True “Hero”

You’ve played The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD before. The idea of it looking prettier than used to is nice, and the Swift Sail feature to provide direct control of the boat is a definite improvement, but some may still be wondering if it’s worth grabbing again on the Wii U. If you enjoy a challenge, then the answer is yes. With The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD , Nintendo asks if you’re man or woman enough for Hero Mode.

Hero Mode is a whole new difficulty level added specifically for the Wii U release that completely changes the game. People accustomed to the standard Wind Waker difficulty level, now dubbed Normal Mode, may be unable to handle it. Those choosing the more difficult mode will take twice as much damage from enemy attacks. To make things worse, only potions and fairies can heal Link. Players will be at a distinct disadvantage, as even the most innocent enemy encounters could lead to Link’s demise.

Normal and Hero Mode will both be available from the start in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD , though Nintendo hasn’t mentioned if “quitters” will be able to adjust the difficulty level during play. The Wii U remake has a tentative October 2013 release window. If you don’t have a Wii U and are considering buying one just for this game, it may be prudent to wait and see if the The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD bundle rumor is true.
