Fans Swiftly Fund Indie Game Awesomenauts’ Expansion in Kickstarter Success Story

Fans Swiftly Fund Indie Game Awesomenauts’ Expansion in Kickstarter Success Story

Kickstarter is turning out to be the perfect way to see how much people want things. Take Ronimo Games’ Awesomenauts , for example. It’s a MOBA inspired by 80’s cartoon shows that’s found success on the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. When Ronimo announced it hoped to fund the Awesomenauts: Starstorm expansion via Kickstarter on August 19, 2013, it was a safe bet that the project would happen. That the funding goal would be hit within a week, however, was quite a surprise.

Yet, it’s exactly what happened. Awesomenauts: Starstorm’s $125,000 goal was met earlier today, meaning the expansion will definitely be coming to the PC and the PS4. Awesomenauts will be getting a Starstorm space-station map, three new characters, a Spectator Mode, global chat, twin-stick controller support, three new theme songs, and two general soundtrack songs. Unfortunately, the Spectator Mode and Global Chat will be absent from the PS4 version of the expansion.

Ronimo has eight more stretch goals in place for the Awesomenauts: Starstorm Kickstarter , with the highest goal being an AI Editor if $630,000 is raised. More realistic goals include an additional map and more music at $200,000, custom games at $270,000, and the addition of replays and an Infinite Spectator Mode at $380,000.

The least amount of money that can be pledged to the Awesomenauts: Starstorm Kickstarter to get Steam copies of the game and DLC is $15. Only PC versions of the game can be acquired as a bonus for contributing to the Kickstarter.

Awesomenauts is a robust and entertaining MOBA, and one that has been offered in Humble Indie Bundles and as a PlayStation Plus freebie in the past. It’s good to know it will be receiving updates, and the support of the community shows there is quite a demand for it.
