Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Coming to iOS and Android Devices

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Coming to iOS and Android Devices

Final Fantasy IV was ported to practically every platform ever, so it’s only fitting that Square Enix start that trend with Final Fantasy IV: The After Years , its initially episodic sequel. The 2D version of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years made its appearance on select cellphones in Japan, then was ported to the Wii as a WiiWare title, and finally to the PSP in Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection . Except that isn’t where the tale of Theo (Cecil and Rosa’s son) ends. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years 3D remake is headed straight for iOS and Android devices.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years has been remade in the style of the Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV DS games. The release will cover all 10 chapters of the game, but only chapter 7 is playable at the 2013 Tokyo Game Show. It is currently unknown if this incarnation of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will feature any new content, aside from the necessary touch-screen control scheme.

Square Enix must have been working on this Final Fantasy IV: The After Years remake in secret for quite a while, as its Japanese release window is set for Winter 2013. A worldwide release has yet to be confirmed, but it seems likely. The price is also unknown, but I’m sure it will be much less than the WiiWare incarnation, which costs $37 for all 10 chapters.
