GTA Online May Have Microtransactions

Grand Theft Auto V ‘s multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto Online , may be introducing microtransactions, if we can believe the words of a few data miners. Reddit user 1880 went snooping around the files on the GTA V disc and discovered an XML file from the store section that mentions “Cash Cards.”  The cards in question range in value from $100,000 to $1,250,000. A description of the cards is as follows, “Cash is king in this town. Solve your money problems and help get what you want across Los Santos and Blaine County with the purchase of cash packs for Grand Theft Auto Online. All purchased cash is automatically deposited into your character’s bank account. Spend wisely, cash therapy is fleeting.” Note that finding a file in a game’s code is not a confirmation of a feature. It’s possible that Rockstar was toying around with the idea of microtransactions, yet eventually decided against them. It’s also possible that these cash cards aren’t referring to microtransactions at all. We will bring you more information on GTA V’s multiplayer when it drops as a free patch on October 1st.
