Mad Catz Sets a Release Date for Its Console, M.O.J.O.

In a follow up to yesterday’s story regarding Mad Catz new Android based game console called M.O.J.O . , two recent developments have peaked our interest.

First is the release date. If you were dying to get your hands on a brand new mobile-based gaming console, you’ll be able to do so in just a little over two months. The M.O.J.O, is set to be released on December 10 th . This, of course, puts it within the 30 day launch windows of the “big two,” when both Sony and Microsoft will release their next-gen powerhouses the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. This, however, is very unlikely to factor into the marketing strategy of Mad Catz, as the comapny intends to compete with the slew of other, lower-end consoles that are set to capitalize on the 2013 holiday rush (such as the similar Ouya, for example).

Another interesting aspect to the release is the info that has recently been pulled from the M.O.J.O. website. Gamasutra reports that it noticed the system specs on the M.O.J.O. site suggested some type of PC game support (possibly opening the door to the console being more than just a mobile games device). These specs have since been removed.

“Whether it was included by mistake, or whether it is not ready to be unveiled yet is unclear. We’ll let you know when Mad Catz gets back to us.” said Gamasutra.

M.O.J.O will feature a 1.8GHz Processor, 16GB Internal Storage, 2GB RAM , USB 3.0 and built-in WiFi. The console will run on the Android (Jelly Bean) OS and will come pre-packaged with Google Play and NVIDIA TegraZone Apps.
