Batman: Arkham Origins Developers Faced Doubt over Game’s Production

In an exclusive interview with Eurogamer , Warner Bros. Games Montreal developers admitted facing resistance and reluctance on just about every level when they started working on Batman: Arkham Origins way back in 2011. Senior producer Ben Mattes alluded to the fact that there were several instances where his team felt hesitation from within the company and skepticism from fans. He attributed most of these feelings to the simple fact that Rocksteady Studios had created certified classics in both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City , thus putting even more pressure on them to deliver a winner with Arkham Origins .

Ben goes on to confirm that he shrugged off a great deal of doubt about Arkham Origins after his studio started to reveal more about the game to the public. He mentions people as being highly invested in the story elements and praising some of the changes made to the game in terms of both a revised combat system and upgraded detective mode.

Before I had a chance to see Arkham Origins in action at E3 2013, I too had my doubts about WB Games Montreal’s ability to deliver a game worthy of this franchise. Looking at the finished product now, I will say that the game is a great effort by the newly formed studio. Rocksteady’s entries are definitely the better games in the series, but Arkham Origins is an absolute must play for any and every diehard Batman fan out there.

Batman: Arkham Origins is out now for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and Wii U. Have any of you had a chance to play it yet? If so, feel free to let us know what you think about the game so far in the comments section below.
