EVE Online Wins World Summit Award

EVE Online Wins World Summit Award

CCP Games has announced its success in being awarded the World Summit Award (WSA) in the e-Entertainment and Games category at this years, well, World Summit Awards.

For those who are unaware of the World Summit Awards (myself included), it’s pretty much an initiative backed by United Nations organizations that gathers around various digital content from all over the world that is considered to have a significant impact on the globe and pits them against each other to see which comes out on topic (like any other competition).

Being one out of 460 nominees, EVE Online joined a handful of finalists that were invited to Sri Lanka to a three-day WSA Global Summit. Whilst there, EVE Online became one of the top five winners in the e-Entertainment and Games category, and was given the title of Global Champion.

EVE Online’s game design director Örvar Halldórsson received the reward in Colombo on behalf of CCP Games.

EVE Online’s latest free expansion, Rubicon , will be its 20th expansion in its 10-year lifetime, and will launch on November 19. I’ve been out of the EVE Online scene for a while now unfortunately, but I’m hoping to maybe get back into it after Rubicon is released.

What do you think of EVE Online winning the WSA Global Summit in e-Entertainment and Games? Let us know in the comments!

Chirps to a press release. Thank you for reading, and I’ll catch you next time.
