Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Gets a Spring Release Date

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes Gets a Spring Release Date

Konami Digital has given out rather palpable information about the other Metal Gear Solid title that’ll be a prelude to next-gen’s upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain .

A new addition to the MGS canon, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be a stepping stone into Phantom Pain , allowing for players to become accustomed to the new features prevalent in the fifth installment to the franchise’s main series, as well as telling the story of the events that took place prior to the plot Phantom Pain .

Suggested to be smaller than its bigger brother, Ground Zeroes is designed to ease players into key elements that’ll feature in Phantom Pain, which are made possible thanks to the FOX Engine. The game itself features weather, a day-and-night cycle, and open environments – all of which can have a dynamic effect on your experience as you play. Ground Zeroes will have you infiltrate a Cuban prison camp on a rescue mission, wherein following events will tie into Phantom Pain .

Hideo Kojima, creator of the Metal Gear Solid series and head of Kojima Productions, explained the relation between Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain , saying that, “T he advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine have allowed me to tell the new story in a new way. There will be a significant difference in what Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential. As such, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has been designed to introduce key elements, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game will offer.

Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be available on most console platforms–Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and Xbox One–in Spring 2014. Boxed versions for PS3 and Xbox 360 will sell at retail for £29.99, and digital versions will sell for £19.99. Digital versions for the PS4 and Xbox One, however, will sell at £29.99. Information on boxed versions for the PS4 and Xbox One haven’t been dished out, as far as I’m aware.
