Gran Turismo 6 Microtransaction Pricing Detailed

Gran Turismo 6 Microtransaction Pricing Detailed

Let’s face it. Microtransactions are here to stay. Our favorite game series, like Gran Turismo 6, will now be asking us to bleed money in order to get cooler and shinier things at a faster pace. The least we can do is arm ourselves with the knowledge of the pricing scheme and hope that we don’t have to race in a old broken down Mazda Protoge.

Players will be able to purchase credits in increments of 500,000, which will run you $4.99. You can also purchase 1,000,000 credits for $9.99, 2,500,000 credits for $19.99, and 7,500,000 credits for $49.99, effectively making the credits cheaper the more you buy. Credits can be earned through gameplay, though it is currently not clear how fast they will be earned.

This all seems well and good, until you realize some vehicles, like the Jaguar XJ1, will sell for upwards of twenty million credits! If you were to spend your money most effectively you’d still have to drop over $130 just to get an in-game car! Who knows how long it will take to earn without using microtransactions.

Whether or not these microtransactions end up pissing off the Gran Turismo 6 fanbase will come down to how playable the game is without using them. Unfortunately, we won’t know that until the game comes out. Gran Turismo 6 launches on Friday, December 6th, exclusivley for the PlayStation 3.
