Square Enix Announced Guns’N’Souls feat: Song Summoner

Wait,  video game titles can now have featuring credits in them? Well if anyone was going to do it, it was going to be Square-Enix.

The popular JRPG developer has announced its work on Guns’N’Souls feat: Song Summoner . It’s a sequel to the original Song Summoner , which you probably haven’t heard about. Basically, the original Song Summoner was a turn based RPG that used your music to generate your party and abilities. Guns’N’Souls , however, is more of a traditional action RPG, though it still uses music mechanics. The game will read your music collection and give you a set of cards which are then used to power up the main character, Ziggy’s, music sword. Hopefully they are used as static buffs or something and we aren’t seeing a return of the Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories combat system.

Guns’N’Swords will be developed for iOS and Android platforms and will be compatible with pretty much any plain old MP3 collection. It’s slated for release “this winter” for iOS platforms and will come out for Android in the spring. I can’t wait to see what special powers I get for blasting my death metal remix of Happy Happy Joy Joy by Stinky Wizzleteets.
