Project Spark Entering Xbox One Closed Beta in February

Project Spark Entering Xbox One Closed Beta in February

The sandbox game-within-a-game Project Spark , which is being developed for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC (albeit only on Windows 8, the sods), will have its first Closed Beta on Microsoft’s Xbox One console next month, as was posted by the title’s development team– Team Dakota- -on its official Facebook last night.

The announcement detailed that any current Project Spark Windows 8 Closed Beta testers will now also be given access to the title’s Closed Beta on the Xbox One when it starts. If you’ve already got a Windows 8 Closed Beta key, and you are not actually actively partaking in Spark’s Windows 8 Closed Beta, that same key will automatically grant you access to the Xbox One Closed Beta.

To reiterate: if you are already partaking in Spark’s Windows 8 Closed Beta, you will automatically be allowed to partake in the Xbox One Closed Beta when it opens up (that means users with a redeemed key will get into the Closed Betas for both Windows 8 and Xbox One). If you haven’t already cashed in your Project Spark Windows 8 Closed Beta key, then when you do cash it in it will also automatically grant you access to the Xbox One Closed Beta when it comes around (giving you access to both the Windows 8 and Xbox One Closed Betas).

Just to make sure you get your shot at the Xbox One Closed Beta, Dakota will also be distributing a second Closed Beta key to registered uses once the Xbox One Closed Beta initiates. This gives users another chance to get into the mix if they happen to have given away their key, or to give the second key away to a friend who also wants in on the fun.

Project Spark was unveiled at the Xbox One reveal shortly before E3 last year. Similar to From Dust , you’re able to construct, destruct, morph and change the terrain (or the “level”) to your liking. Unlike From Dust , however, you’re able to make a sort of mini-game out of what you create, complete with enemies, environments, objectives, and all that jazz. It’s basically Map Editor: The Videogame, babbie’s first videogame development kit.

If you’re interesting in signing up for the Xbox One Closed Beta, or to also score a chance at getting access to the Windows 8 Closed Beta too, you can sign-up for entry by heading on over to Project Spark’s official sign-up website here . Project Spark has been slated for a 2014 spring release for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC (Windows 8).
