MonkeyPaw games is bringing a Double Dragon title that you never played to the PlayStation Network. Simply titled Double Dragon , it’s a fighting game based on the absolutely horrible movie adaptation of the franchise.
However, unlike the movie, this fighting game actually has some interesting ideas. The gameplay is smooth for a PSX era game, and special and super moves are impressive. Perhaps the most interesting thing the game has to offer is its meter management system. Your life meter doubles as your super meter, meaning that your super meter gets smaller and smaller and easier to fill as you take damage. This was an incredibly innovative comeback mechanic for its time and hasn’t been replicated since.
Double Dragon was originally developed for the Neo-Geo arcade platform. It is available for purchase on the PSN for only $5.99. It’s worth playing just to see Abobo grow into the doofy musclebound hulk that he is.
