Free To Play Shooter Loadout Gets Official Release Date

Free To Play Shooter Loadout Gets Official Release Date

Two years ago, we experienced a brand new game called Loadout at PAX East. It was an ingenious shooter, much in the arcade vein of Team Fortress 2 , that allowed you to build your own guns. Shotguns that fire rockets? Sure. Sniper rifles that fire lightning? Why not?! The game literally had “billions” of gun combinations, and its alpha alone kept players trying to figure out optimal loadouts (oh we get it!) for their weapons of choice.

At the time, the game was slated for a Summer of 2012 release, but a lot of time passed and we heard no more info. The alpha kept going strong but the game itself got no closer to actually hitting store shelves, or in this case digital distribution platforms. That is, until now. Loadout has officially announced its release date. The game will be going live on January 31 st , 2014, so get ready to try all 44 billion possible guns for yourself.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open it up to the masses,” Edge of Reality CEO Rob Cohen said in a press release. “We started this as a passion project, working on it when we could, and trying to create something original and truly player-friendly. What we’ve got now is a game that’s a blast to play, quick and easy to get into, and empowers players with insane amounts of customization.”
