The one thing that Respawn Entertainment wanted to make completely clear as Titanfall went into alpha is that it was exactly that… an alpha. This was not a beta. This was not anything like the final game was going to be. This was simply a test to see if the underlying mechanics were working, as well as a way to test the game’s alpha netcode. In fact, Respawn was so paranoid about people mistaking the alpha for a completed game that they forbade alpha testers from sharing their impressions . Weird.
So when will we be getting an actual Titanfall beta? Well according to French site Xboxygen, sometime in February. The news comes from what appears to be leaked promotional materials that say a Titanfall beta will run between February 14 th and February 19 th . Access will be restricted to only those who have preordered the game from participating retailers. These retailers are rumored to be GameStop in the US and Micromania in France. Details of UK participation are still thin.
Respawn Entertainment has not yet confirmed this rumor, however it certainly seems plausible. Titanfall is scheduled to drop on March 11 th so a February beta seems correct.
