Mario Kart 8 Coming in May

Mario Kart 8 Coming in May

In a recent Nintendo financial meeting, Nintendo detailed their strategies to bounce back into the game after the harrowing fifteen million dollar operating loss of this year. Many of those strategies talked about restructuring Nintendo’s position in digital space and offering up new initiatives on mobile platforms, however some of those strategies were just “release more games.” One of these games is Mario Kart 8, which now has a definitive release window, at least. The latest Mario Kart title will be hitting store shelves in May.

Mario Kart 8 basically combines all the great features of Mario Kart ’s past into one big racing fest. Players will be able to choose between karts, ATVs, and bikes in their races. They will also be able to shift into glider, underwater, and anti-grav mode throughout different tracks. Coins come back, which increase your maximum speed, as do all of Mario Kart ’s well known power-ups. Yep, get ready to eat blue shell once more.

Iwata said that the release of Mario Kart 8 “won’t be just a one-off boost in momentum.” Following its release, a number of high profile Wii U titles will hit the market. What are these titles? Iwata isn’t saying yet, but our guess is Smash Bros., Smash Bros., and more Smash Bros.
