Back in November, Eidos Montreal–the developers behind the reboot of Thief — released a stylised video that focused on part of Thief’s narrative regarding its characters and its setting of a broken and corrupt city. The video was part of a mini-series named “ Stories from The City ,” and the second addition to the series was released shortly after in December. As announced press release from yesterday (February 11), the third and final addition to the mini-series has now been released.
Titled “ The Thief Taker General’s Hunt ”, the video focuses on the Thief Taker General, who is the Commander of the Baron’s Watch. The Thief Taker General’s prime motive is to eradicate every last thief in The City. What’s more, he is hellbent on capturing Garrett, the Master Thief–a prize in which the Thief Taker General desires most.
A corrupt man to the bone, the Thief Taker General utilizes fear to enforce an exorbitant “black tax” on those of the underworld. Those who don’t pay up to the Thief Taker General’s outrageously high tax rates are met with the noose, and are given a short drop with a sudden stop. What’s ironic, the Thief Taker General also runs a large-scale operation where the victims who have succumbed to the mysterious sickness known as “The Gloom” are collected and stripped bare for all that they are worth: clothes, jewellery, gold teeth and even artificial limbs. Quite the duality indeed.

Recently, a video was released of Thief’s customization options , in which various things, among others, can be tweaked in the game’s difficulty section to make it woefully harder or blissfully easy for yourself.
