Shinji Mikami’s next big horror game has finally be dated. The Evil Within will launch on consoles and PC on August 26 th in North America. A European release is scheduled for August 29 th . It will launch for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC.
According to Mikami, the game is a return to his horror roots. Ammo and weapons will be scarce, enemies will be hard to kill, spaces will be claustrophobic, and the game will ask you to run more than fight. Mikami has designed this not to be an action game with some horror splashed in, but as a real true to life horror experience. In his own words, he isn’t trying to introduce new ideas or reinvent the wheel, he just wanted to explore fear again. “I’m making this game just because it’s fun to scare people” Mikami said. That’s pretty sick, but sometimes you need a sick mind to make a great game.
