Minecraft ? Movie? In the same sentence? Well, it is 2014, so and I’m not going to skeptical nor cynical about it. Bring on the videogame movie adaptations, I say, even if they’ve been near-complete flops in the past. There’s already going to be a movie series on the scale of The Lord of the Rings movies for Magic: The Gathering , so why not there be one for Minecraft too?
A couple of days ago (February 27), Minecraft creator and Mojang boss Markus “Notch” Persson humorously tweeted the initial leak on the story over Twitter, stating that he’s working with Warner Brothers on the potential of a Minecraft movie.
“Someone is trying leak the fact that we’re working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak!” Notch tweeted .
Whilst Notch’s tweet confirms the potential for a Minecraft , it doesn’t quite confirm that there will actually be a Minecraft movie. If there is going to be one, then this tweet only serves to let us know that the concept is still in the very early days of its development.
Minecraft recently dropped on PlayStation 3 back in December, and Owen Hill of Mojang assured that Minecraft will be dropping on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita are in the works, but no release dates have been announced yet. An Xbox One version is also on its way too.
