Minecraft Reaches 100 Million Registered Users

Minecraft Reaches 100 Million Registered Users

Earlier this week, Mojang founder Markus Persson announced via Twitter that the original Minecraft game has now reached 100 million registered users. He added that players are usually treated to a free demo of the game when they sign up for a free account and that the 100 million user number is a result of a 14.3% conversion rate to paid accounts.

Minecraft is known as a popular sandbox indie game that allows players to create and build constructions within a 3D procedurally generated world. Since the game debuted on the PC way back in 2011, the series has gained even more notoriety and continues to appear on both current and next-gen home consoles today.

Hearing this news is great because it confirms that the game is still a force to be reckoned with today. It will be interesting to see if Persson decides to do even more with the series as time goes on. He certainly has the option to and I can guarantee that even more people will invest in the game if he does.

Do any of you enjoy playing Minecraft or are you not into these types of games? Please feel free to let us know in the comments section below.
