Minecraft Explains “Troll” References in Terms of Service

Minecraft Explains “Troll” References in Terms of Service

For a brief period, it looked like the hundreds of thousands of subscribers to YouTube channels across the interwebs would have to do without their lovable Minecraft trolling videos, which are so very popular these days.

Markus Persson (infamously known as “Notch”) recently explained how the term “trolling” got into an official TOS agreement in the first place. “Because we apparently have to have them, we have terms and conditions on how you can use Minecraft . Someone at some point added the term “no trolling” to these terms. I assume this was done in good faith to prevent Minecraft being used to harass or bully people, but ‘trolling’ is a very problematic term.” He says.

User ZexyZek, who has one of most popular channels for Minecraft videos, told fans that it would appear his YouTubeing days are over as the new conditions would force him to stop producing this type of content. However, after a slew of negative feedback, Notch explained he hoped the conditions would be updated to either clarify the term, or remove it all together. “Content creators like ZexyZek and all the community their fanbases create is the reason Minecraft is where it is. I will ask the people in charge of the boring legal texts to clarify ‘trolling’ with better words. If they really did mean what was perceived, I will ask them to remove that line.” Notch reveals.

More details to come as we receive them.
