RUMOR: PlayStation Now Games Will Cost About Five Dollars

Gaikai has updated their site with some U.I. concept images for the upcoming PlayStaiton Now service. The concept images show a couple of games priced at what we can only assume are estimates for what the PlayStation Now service will cost.

The games in question are Uncharted 3, The Last of Us, Far Cry 3, and BioShock Infinite. The Last of Us and BioShock Infinite appear to be sold at their original prices. Likely this means that you’d purchase the game once, and have access to it forever. Unfortunately, this means you’ll likely have to purchase games that you have already paid for.

The other alternative is to “rent” your game, which is how Uncharted 3 and Far Cry 3 are priced. Renting a game would allow you to stream it for a limited amount of time, which will eventually expire. It’s great for getting a game for a party, or for marathoning a game to completion in a weekend, but this option will essentially lock the game out, along with all of your content, when the rental period is up. Uncharted 3 is being offered at $4.99 in the image, while Far Cry 3 is being offered at $5.99 in the image, both for an unknown period of time. The scary thing is that it appears as if there is no option to purchase these games.

This is all just rumor and speculation for now and Sony’s official response is “no comment.” What do you think? Are you OK with this pricing scheme? Let us know in the comments.
