In a press release issued out on March 11, The Witcher series developer CD Projekt RED announced the release date of its much anticipated The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt . The series’ finale has been slate to drop on February, 2015. No further specifics were given.
“The decision we made was difficult, thoroughly considered, and ultimately clear and obvious. We could have released the game towards the end of this year as we had initially planned,” the studio said in the press release. “Yet we concluded that a few additional months will let us achieve the quality that will satisfy us, the quality gamers expect from us. Consequently, we have set the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for February 2015.
Wanting to make The Witcher 3 its magnum opus, CD Projekt RED will be aiming to put all its 11 years of experience in developing RPGs into its next title. At the same time, the studio is wanting to make The Witcher 3 expand creative boundaries, set new benchmarks and develop the RPG genre as a whole. What’s more, it is ultimately wanting to make sure the player gets an unforgettable experience when playing The Witcher 3 .
Addressing those who are anticipating playing The Witcher 3 , CD Projekt RED sends its apologies to you for making you wait for the third installment to the Witcher series, and assures that the game will certainly be worth the wait.
“We know many of you would have liked to play The Witcher 3 sooner, as soon as possible, even. We’re sorry to make you wait longer than you, or we, initially assumed you would. At the same time, we believe the game will prove to be worth the wait and meet the expectations you have of us. We believe The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be an exceptional RPG, one of the best, providing many hours of wonderful entertainment.”
In the beginning of the year, a partnership with CD Projekt RED and Fantasy Flight Games was announced, and with it came the unveiling of the two company’s collaborative effort in publishing The Witcher Adventure Game , a board game adaptation spin-off of the Witcher videogame series.
