Last Night, Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann told IGN that The Last of Us Movie will be fully adapted from the video game. Druckmann made the news official shortly after The Last of Us took home five awards at last night’s BAFTA Game Awards ceremony.
Beyond news of the film, Druckmann also added that he is still figuring out how to approach making a sequel to the game. He emphasized that both projects are very early in the development process and that he will have more to share once each concept is fully fleshed out. Sam Raimi is expected to produce The Last of Us film once production finally gets underway.
The decision to make this movie based off of the game is a great idea and should fully preserve all aspects of the story considerably. By taking this approach, Druckmann and the team can think more openly about ideas they want to explore if the decide to make a second game in the series. Overall, this news sounds promising and gives fans a lot to look forward to in the future.
