One of the big selling points of the PS4 is the fact that it was about 100 dollars cheaper than the Xbox One. This was because consumers didn’t have to buy the new PlayStation 4 camera with a PlayStation 4 system. You’d think that this means that the PS4 camera wouldn’t be a very hot seller, but you’d be wrong. According to Sony’s Chris Norden, the PS4 camera is actually “severely supply constrained.”
The PS4 itself has sold over 6 million units. The PS4 camera, however, has only sold about 900,000 units. Unfortunately, this is already more than Sony planned for. The camera is sold out at many retailers, and Sony is now scrambling to replenish their supply. Norden told fans to “please be patient” as Sony produces more cameras, though it’s currently not clear when they will hit the market once more.
