Earlier today, Nintendo confirmed in a press release that they will have more details on Super Smash Bros. in an upcoming Nintendo Direct scheduled to take place on April 8 th at 6pm EST. Game director Masahiro Sakurai also added that the team is currently cracking down on cheats like “edge hopping” which players have used in the past to their advantage.
Nintendo has already revealed most of the game’s roster through past Nintendo Direct presentations. Super Smash Bros. is expected to launch exclusively on both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS at some point later this year.
While Nintendo hasn’t been forthcoming about what they intend to reveal yet, I think it would be pretty silly if a confirmed release date isn’t mentioned at this point. Nintendo has had a pretty dismal start to the year thus far due to the lack of games releasing on the platform. A Super Smash Bros. release date announcement could change all that and give the passionate consumers something to look forward to.
