Sony told Develop that the company’s next PlayStation Open Day event will be held in Kraków, Poland on Wednesday, May 7. Sony has partnered up with Polish three-day event Digital Dragons, with the PlayStation Open Day starting off the whole thing.
Sony has also announced that more events have been planned for Spain and Italy, but the respective dates for each event have yet to be detailed. PlayStation developers will be attending the event, who will not only offer insight as to how each developer managed to get their games onto PlayStation consoles, but also how each developer can improve their business practices when targeting any videogame platform.
During the event, discussions and topics will include how to self-publish on PlayStation platforms, as well as how to develop games for PlayStation platforms. Topics on how PC games transformed into a next-gen wonder, and how to work with the press will also be presented.
” The PlayStation Open Days have proven to be extremely popular with the UK development community. We are very excited to bring them to other European countries, starting with Poland and with more dates for Spain and Italy to be announced very soon, ” said Sony’s European development account manager Agostino Simonetta.

It is also a clear signal, confirming that Poland has become an important point on the game dev map of Europe, ” Krzysztof Krzyztofiak, VP of the Kraków Technology Park added.
Scottish University of Abertay recently became Europe’s largest laboratory dedicated to PlayStation console development kits, the lab of which was opened on Friday, February 21.
Every programming student at Abertay will now be able to learn how to use the PlayStation Vita dev kits, and they already have access to the PlayStation 3 and 4 dev kits within this new lab. This was made possible thanks to a deal between the University of Abertay and PlayStation First, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe’s (SCEE’s) Academic Development Program.
