Marty O’Donnell, composer responsible for the iconic Halo theme, has been let go from his position at Bungie. Why? Well we don’t know. Not even O’Donnell knows. This news comes by way of O’Donnell’s twitter which read, “I’m saddened to say that Bungie’s board of directors terminated me without cause on April 11, 2014.”
But Bungie tells a different story. According to them, the composer and the company parted ways as friends. “For more than a decade, Marty O’Donnell filled our worlds with unforgettable sounds and soundtracks, and left an indelible mark on our fans,” reads a statement from the developer. “Today, as friends, we say goodbye. We know that wherever his journey takes him, he will always have a bright and hopeful future.”
“We wish him luck in all his future endeavors.”
So what’s the truth? We aren’t sure. More to the point, one wonders what would happen to Destiny , O’Donnell’s last project, now that he is no longer attached to compose.
